… and an article of especial interest to me. Wimborne St. Giles is perhaps five miles from Witchampton, the Fripp family village. St. Giles House, home of the Earls of Shaftesbury since 1651, has been abandoned for decades. Unexpectedly, the current young Earl of Shaftesbury inherited while working as a DJ in NYC I…

The village of Wimborne St. Giles also has a resonance for Crafties who spent time at the Red Lion House in Cranborne (1986-89), one mile away. The village teas on a Sunday were well worth the walk there and back. The church and pub are also worth visiting, and the Big House returning to active use by the family is very good news for the area; and Dorset persons of a certain age.

Home to prepare for a visit from our pals who lost their dog on Friday.

Our He-pal is on the Wick Social Club Committee. While nibbling inside, prior to supper by the back door, I heard myself agreeing to open Wick Village Fete at the beginning of September. What! This is not like Fripp at all.

When my feet go walking, I trust where they lead and do what I may to follow them. Part of my practice is to listen to myself while speaking. So, when something unexpected is said, I perk up my ears to what is going on. What is going on is, I am opening Wick Village Fete.

A post-supper walk down the garden followed by dessert inside. Our pals have just left. A most enjoyable evening and, I hope for them, a lifting of their spirits.
